There will be four major types of player vs player (realm vs realm) situations in Warhammer Online:

Skirmishes: These are incidental fights that happen when you enter a PvP area. From them you get money, experience and items. Although, while you can loot the enemy, you’re not actually looting their real items. So you don't have to worry about loosing your gear for participating in them.

Battlefields: These will have you fighting for control of in-game resources, like lumber mills and temples.

Scenarios: These are point based instanced battle areas. Each player is assigned a point value they are worth and the game matches them together. To avoid queuing, they’ve added in “Dogs of War”, which are NPCs who join one side or the other to balance things out. Scenarios are intended to be quick action.

Campaign: This is the end game. In the high level areas are five zones. At the extreme ends of each land-area are the capital cities for each race. Players wage war to push each other back and forth. The goal is to lock down a zone and advance closer to the enemy’s capital city. Once there, you can sack the city for great rewards.

Questing

There are 5 types of quests
  • Kill collectors
  • Tome
  • Exploration
  • RvR
  • Public

These quests are organized into chapters so you can read the storyline and understand them as if you were reading a book to understand the storyline of the game. Like your 4 tiers each quest will have chapters, tier 1 is chapter 1-4, tier 2 is 5-9, tier 3 is chapters 10-14 and tier 4 is chapters 15-22 of the storyline.

Quests also have a radius to them which will determine the distance you must travel to complete the quest and therefore the time it will take the complete the quest these are Charges, Adventures and Epics. The longer it takes to complete the quest the better the reward and the more storyline you will learn along the way.

Charges for example are a single chapter where as adventures may be 3 in a single tier and epics may be up to 10 or more chapters throughout your time in the game spanning tiers 1 - 4. The larger the radius of the quest the more the reward will be at the end.

Kill collectors quest basic goal is to kill mobs. If the killing was useful to someone weather you were asked to do it or NOT you will get rewarded! No actual quest is needed.

Tome quests are recieved from the tome of knowledge. The tome is your base of gameplay in game and will give you quests, skills and knowledge. This is new to the MMO world and different from any other game out there. We look forward to seeing more about it!

Exploration quests are random quests that you stumble upon in game. These quests will give you a reward for your willingness to walk around and explore the world within Warhammer Online. "Instant Rewards for Little Effort" They will also enrich the story by giving you little easter eggs about the game.

RvR quests will be challenging player vs player quests. You have to kill certain amount of other live players to complete these quests but the rewards will be worth it!

Public quests will be Area based quests with multiple stages and multiple rewards. A public quest will start when you enter an area where it is taking place. You will be notified of what the quest is and how you can help in this quest. If you leave the quest is not over. These quests are constantly evolving until you get to a boss monster that you must help kill in order to get the sweet rewards at the end. When you join a public quest you get "contribution" and "influence" points.

Contribution points are based upon how long you have been on the quest when it ends. The longer you have been on that quest the more contribution points will have built up and you will earn more loot after the final kill.

Influence points are for those who do not complete public quests. Influence points are like reputation in other games. The NPC hubs you build influence with will go from basic rewards up to advanced then elite rewards.
